Yesterday the first of five animations from myself and Refinery29's Short Cuts was released! I teamed up with R29 earlier in the year to do a series of videos dealing with daily beauty gripes of the average lady -- aka ME. These will be rolling out through the near year, I hope you enjoy!
In one week the Kickstarter Campaign for the Breaking Up Is Hard To Do Storytelling Book Tour reached initial funding, but we're not stopping there!
I am so honored and humbled by your support. I'm also really excited. Thanks to the help of my fans, friends, and family, I am going to take my first book of cartoons on a kick ass book tour from New York to San Francisco to Los Angeles. But why stop there?
With 22 days left in our campaign, we've added stretch goals to go to more cities, to hear more of your stories, to share in more of your laughter. If you live in Chicago, Seattle or Portland -- or maybe your friends, family and exe(s) do - - please check out this campaign! The more you can support, the more everyone benefits. More buttons, more books, even more animation! Plus, there are still so many great rewards available from me, Jon-Michael Frank, Matthew Sweet, Feminist Fight Club and more!
And just in case you haven't seen it yet, or you need a reminder, or reason to laugh, here's my mother and I discussing the tour, campaign, and you know, Kim Kardashian.
Today I launched a Kickstarter Campaign to support my first book tour, a storytelling series where you can come tell your break up story.
When I opened up submissions for Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, But You Could've Done Better, I never could have imagined it would go this far, and this is all in great thanks to you, humans of the internet. You poured your heartbreak out to me and next thing you know, publisher are telling me they want to make it a book! Of course, it wasn't that simple, but it's more fun to put it that way.
After seeing the artwork so many of my submitters responded that they felt better having shared their story, having seen something beautiful made of something ugly. Which is why today I am turning to you to help me take this cure across the country.
Because this won't be any old book tour with boring readings, sitting quietly in your seats. This will be a series of open mic nights where you can come tell your break up story, get a copy of the book, hang out with me and other wonderful artists, and hopefully feel better after laughing about the terrible shit your ex said. And for every story told live, I will do a live cartoon for the person to keep. It's basically the book, but IRL and with swag!
With your support I will be able to bring this storytelling series to a city near you! Any donation helps. Whether it's $1 or $100, your support will be pivotal in this campaign. And in return, there are so many awesome rewards available from me and other artists & communities like Jon-Michael Frank, Matthew Sweet, Scout Durwood, Feminist Fight Club and more!
